Thank you all for your support which resulted in my securing the highest number of votes among the five candidates for South Whitehall Township Commissioner.  I greatly appreciate the fact that, unofficially, 70% of the approximately 3200 voters who cast a vote on November 6th cast one for me.  I will start my four year term serving the township on January 1, 2008.

Thanks especially to my wife, Sarah, who has probably wondered if I was ever going to spend an evening or weekend home again.  I'm sure the effort of going door to door to about 2500 households in South Whitehall was a major factor in the success of the campaign.  Additionally I know that those of you who placed my yard signs on your property, those who helped either in the primary or the general election by working the polls or telling your friends and family to check out my qualifications, those who wrote me in during the Primary so I could be the only candidate on both Republican and Democratic ballots, all provided the edge I needed to overcome my lack of name recognition which the existing incumbents enjoyed.  The large number of votes earned by each of the five candidates I believe indicated that the township, already a municipality to be proud of, was willing to embrace change in an effort to become even better.

I took careful note as I went door to door to write down each concern or issue that residents took the time to express or discuss with me.  These were of great variety and I promise to use that as a basis as to how I will work as a Commissioner.

Fortunately this local election was a positive election with people addressing issues and visions instead of trading negative thoughts.  I look forward to working with the other two candidates that earned a spot on the commissioners - Gary Search, the current Board President, and, either Dale Daubert or Tom Johns  (pending resolution of a 300 vote inconsistency between the Morning Call's count and the Channel 69/Voters' Registration count).

I pledge to be a good listener, a fair and rational decision maker, a supporter of our fire, ambulance and police departments, and one who keeps watch and will influence our budget and financial expenditures.  Thanks again for the confidence you have shown in giving me this chance to serve our community.
